Mediation Matters
The team at The Mediation Center invites you to embrace curiosity and join us for our next session of Mediation Matters. Each month, Lee Robbins, our Director of Operations, will hold space for a 1-hour virtual information-sharing session, inviting community members to ask questions and learn more about our mission, services, programs, available training, and volunteer opportunities. Signing up will also enroll you in our monthly newsletter to stay up-to-date regarding training opportunities, community classes, and events.

Civil Mediation Tech Training
Our team will review the current processes for managing virtual mediation sessions using Zoom, Google Workspace, and Adobe Sign. The training is geared towards anyone interested in supporting the community through volunteer work in a virtual setting.

Community Mediation Class
Help us build community capacity to address conflict at an early stage. Attend our next Community Mediation Class and build your key mediator skills: listening with intent, asking engaging questions, and using de-escalation techniques.

Restorative Conferencing Facilitation
Restorative Conferencing brings people together by providing space to discuss harm. Participants will learn the processes and skills to better support their community as facilitators. General Civil Mediation Training *
General Civil Mediation Training is the starting point for every volunteer and private mediator in Georgia. Our training focuses on the essential skills and fundamentals of facilitative mediation. The content and role-plays will prepare you to mediate court-referred civil cases and volunteer with our Center.
Completing this training with the 10-hour practicum is a requirement for registering for the Domestic Relations Mediation Training.

Domestic Relations Mediation Training*
The Domestic Relations Mediation Training will continue developing communication skills, focusing on a facilitative mediation model to resolve family conflict. Our training aims to help participants expand their knowledge and practice to best support families in our community with safe and healthy separation.

SDV Mediation Training*
The Specialized Domestic Violence (SDV) Mediation Training will continue developing your mediation skills, adding de-escalation, power dynamics, room management, and time management to your repertoire. The content and role-plays will prepare you to mediate court-ordered domestic violence cases while maintaining safety.
This training is a requirement to mediate court-ordered cases involving issues of domestic violence.

Probate Mediation Training*
Our Probate Mediation Training will help build your capacity to support families in solving disputes filed in Probate Court. This training will focus on using a facilitative model in resolving long-term family conflict. By the conclusion, you will be prepared to facilitate emotional and meaningful conversations and help families resolve ongoing conflicts to preserve relationships.
Starting July 1, 2025, this training is a requirement to mediate court-referred Probate cases.

Guardian ad Litem Training
The Mediation Center supports the courts, families, and attorneys by managing the Chatham County Guardian ad Litem (GAL) program. As a GAL, you will be appointed by the Judge to represent the interest of a child in cases involving high conflict, allegations of abuse, or neglect. Currently, there is a great need for GALs. Our team and the Court hope you will consider adding value to the program.

Our Center and lead trainer, Lee Robbins, has the approval to provide this training. Approval by the GODR does not imply that any particular court program must accept those who complete our training on their roster. Additionally, completion of any state-approved program does not automatically qualify one as a neutral in any particular program. Local court programs have the authority to exercise discretion regarding applicant qualifications and thus may inquire into the training and experience of a neutral.
