The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire is slated to host its 2018 Youth Awards Extravaganza at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 25 at Woodville Tompkins Technical & Career High School, 151 Coach Joe Turner St., in Savannah.

The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire announces the addition of five new members to its board of directors: Leslie Cecil Keene, Brian Dennison, Daniel Massey, Susannah Pedigo and Tara Scott-Brown.

MEDIATION CENTER OF THE COASTAL EMPIRE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR PRESENTS AT ROTARY CLUB OF RICHMOND HILL

The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire Executive Director Jill Cheeks spoke with members of the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill at their weekly lunch meeting at the Richmond Hill City Center.  During this presentation, Cheeks shared details about the nonprofit organization such as its mission, the programs offered, training processes, and volunteer opportunities as well as background regarding her professional experience both with The Mediation Center and outside of the organization.

MEDIATION CENTER OF THE COASTAL EMPIRE PRESENTS AWARDS, CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL VELVET GALA

The Mediation Center of the Costal Empire recently hosted its inaugural “Velvet Gala” at Cohen’s Retreat.  Over 150 guests sampled appetizers and beverages – including the signature “Red Velvet Cake Martini” – while enjoying live music by Ricardo Ochoa & His Gypsy Jazz quartet. Kurt Hetager, emcee for the festivities, kept attendees entertained with lively banter and facilitated the raffle prize drawings. Proceeds raised from this event will benefit the Mediation Center’s Peer Mediation, Community Conferencing and Children of Peaceful Engagement youth programs.

The organization’s reputation is built on over 30 years of integrity and expertise, with a high success rate in resolving thousands of conflicts through resolution

MEDIATION CENTER OF THE COASTAL EMPIRE LAUNCHES ‘COPE’ PROGRAM AT GREENBRIAR CHILDREN’S CENTER

December 19, 2017 | The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire’s “Children of Peaceful Engagement” program – or COPE – is now available to the residents of Greenbriar Children’s Center. The COPE program teaches children who are going through stressful situations how to better cope with their anger and other emotions and manage their response using proven engagement strategies that focus on understanding and emotional learning.

December 19, 2017 | The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire will host its inaugural “Velvet Gala” from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18 at Cohen’s Retreat, 5715 Skidaway Road. The “Velvet Gala” will feature live entertainment by Ricardo Ochoa & His Gypsy Jazz Quartet, drinks, appetizers, and a raffle fundraiser. 

SAVANNAH BAR ASSOCIATION’S YOUNG LAWYERS DIVISION DONATES $5,000 TO MEDIATION CENTER FOR GUARDIAN AD LITEM PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION

December 8, 2017 |During a check presentation ceremony on Friday afternoon, Trish Murphy, director of the Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire’s Family Law Resource Center, accepted a $5,000 donation from the Young Lawyers Division of the Savannah Bar Association. The exchange was followed by a brief reception with refreshments.

October 4, 2017 |The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire has announced exciting plans to observe the American Bar Association’s Mediation Week, which runs Oct. 15-21. In 2011, the ABA declared the third week of October, “ABA Mediation Week” as part of the Association for Conflict Resolution’s long-established tradition of celebrating conflict resolution throughout October. The theme for this year’s ABA Mediation Week is “Mediation, Civility, and the Power of Understanding.”

This special month stems from the efforts of many other national, state, and local organizations – including the Association for Conflict Resolution – which have been celebrating conflict resolution during the month of October for years.

GEORGIA BAR FOUNDATION AWARDS $10,000 GRANT TO MEDIATION CENTER OF THE COASTAL EMPIRE

August 8, 2017 | The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Georgia Bar Foundation, Inc’s Fellows Program. The grant will contribute to funding vital programs provided by the Mediation Center’s Family Law Resource Center.
