Our History
The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded in 1986 to serve our community. Starting in 1986 as the Neighbor to Neighbor Mediation Center, we provided free and low-cost mediation services in Savannah, Georgia. In 2001, our organization became a United Way agency. Helping to expand our programming to meet the needs of the community. Needs that include safety, healthy communication, connection, and access to justice by reducing the burden of litigation (time and expense) on the local court system.
Community support has provided opportunities for our team to share knowledge and build the capacity with skills to lead processes, thereby exercising self-determination in resolving conflict. Our Center has worked hard to build relationships with community members, organizations, and institutions.
Mission
Our mission is to harness the power of qualified volunteers. Providing processes for citizens to proactively manage conflict creating alternatives to litigation and increasing access to justice.
Vision
The vision of our Center is to be the trusted nonprofit providing premier conflict resolution services and programs to the Coastal Empire.
